ADHD (ADD) Coaching Philosophy

The Edge Foundation provides a supplemental ADHD (ADD) coach training program for experienced coaches who meet the requirements outlined below. This program is designed to ensure consistent use of protocols and to provide coaches with the necessary skills and tools to coach students and young adults. Specifically, the program focuses on

  • special coaching techniques for working with students and young adults;
  • the unique needs of students and young adults;
  • the special challenges presented by ADHD; and
  • the unique needs of students and young adults in academic settings.

Successful completion of this training program results in a training certificate as an approved Edge ADHD coach.

Edge Foundation ADHD Coach Training is approved accredited by the International Coach Federation.

Enrollment Qualifications

To participate in this Edge Foundation training candidates must have:

  • Documentation you have completed at least one of the following:
    • IAAC certification (SCAC or CAC)
    • ICF certification (ACC, PCC, or MCC)
    • Graduation from an ICF-certified school with at least 60 hours of training, or
    • Taken and passed at least 60 hours of ICF-approved training
  • a minimum of 2 years of experience as a coach and
  • coached a minimum of 10 clients.

Course Requirements

Candidates accepted into the program are expected to complete the following requirements:

  • Completion of course assignments
  • Completion of selected readings
  • Six months of post-training supervision by coach trainers via teleconference for all the Edge Foundation coaches.

Training includes a 20 hour telecourse, “Coaching Teens & College Students with ADHD” focused on specific skills and strategies for effective coaching of students and young adults with ADHD. This course will be provided by weekly teleconference. Each participant is required to complete selected readings in addition to the course homework. This unique training program focuses on training the "whole person," not just the academic student or young adult. (See course outline for details.)

Training Calendar

Sign up today for a 10 week course to become an Edge Coach for ADHD Youth. Coach training will be offered by Edge Foundation’s Director of Training, Jodi Sleeper-Triplett, MCC, SCAC, of JST Coaching, LLC, and Coach Trainer, Loretta Spindel, JD, PCC. This course is the first coach training course designed specifically for coaching youth with ADHD. Upcoming class sessions will be offered:

Wednesdays, 12 – 2 PM ET, January 28 – April 1, 2009

Training Benefits

  • The Edge Training Team brings over 20 years of experience working with youth and 12 years focused on coaching youth with ADHD.
  • Class size is limited to 20 students.
    (If the class enrollment is below 15, the Edge Foundation may choose to cancel the class and provide alternative Edge ADHD Coach training dates.)
  • Monthly supervision calls, 10 coaches per call, for 6 months after training completion .
  • 20 CCEU’s upon completion of the training series.
  • Training certification as an approved Edge ADHD coach.
  • Upon successful completion of the program, participating coaches will begin to receive referrals from the Edge Foundation to students and young adults interested in ADHD coaching.
